Tunnel To Towers

The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Band is delighted to be taking part in the inaugural UK Tunnel to Towers run in London.

The run is inspired by the FDNY Tunnel to Towers run, which is organised by the Steven Siller foundation. The UK event will start from King's Stairs Gardens, Bermondsey. It will pass through the Rotherhithe Tunnel and Wapping before finishing with a street party in the shadows of Canary Wharf Tower in London's Docklands.

The band will be marching the full 5km of the run route and will be timing the march to arrive at the finish line around the time of the main runners.

The band will then perform during the street party afterwards at Billingsgate Market. More details will be on this page soon.

Most importantly the band will be marching to raise money for charity. This is a huge ask for the band and will be very challenging, but it's an event we're really looking forward to, and really hope that anyone visiting the page will sponsor us!

Charities

All the proceeds from sponsorship of WYFRS band for this event are going to the The Firefighters Charity.

In addition to this, each band member has also chosen a charity which they want to represent, and for which they are raising money for personally - for their own reasons. Several members of the band are raising money for The Firefighters Charity as individuals, but there are other charities represented also.

If you would like to sponsor the band, we would gratefully accept all sponsorship from £1 to anything else you can give. Please sponsor us on our Just Giving page. If the link doesn't work, you can copy and paste the following into your browser: www.justgiving.com/thefireband

Alternatively you can have a look at how we're all doing as a team, or if you are interested in who else we are supporting, please look at our  Just Giving team page which lists the various individuals within the band.
